About Small Town Soul
Hey friend! My name’s Abbey, and I’m so glad you’re here. I know what it’s like to visit a site like this and assume the person behind the scenes is some upper class, has-their-life-together, perfect kind of person. Rest assured, that’s not what you’ll find here.
I’m probably a lot like you. I’m a wife, mom of 3, and homemaker from a very small town (population 609) in Texas. I prefer to read after my kids are in bed so they won’t steal my bookmarks. I write a lot of things in my head, and only a few of them make it here because I usually forget what I wanted to say somewhere in between one kid asking for a snack and another having to go potty. I bake a lot of sourdough bread and goodies because we have a gluten free kiddo and there’s no way I can give up carbs. Blueberry pie is my favorite food. My husband is my best friend. And I can’t stand online grocery pickup. That’s me in a nutshell.
Now to the serious stuff. Here at Small Town Soul, we talk mainly about faith, motherhood, and raising Jesus kids.
Our goal is to empower moms to raise Jesus kids simply and intentionally. God has a special plan for the children of this generation, and for the women raising them. I believe that Joel 2:28 will never be more relevant to a generation of young children than it will be to our children: “It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, your young men will see visions.”
As the women of our households, we have a responsibility and a calling to be wise, kind, and loving in all of our ways. As Proverbs 31, verses 26 and 28, put it: “She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue…Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her…”
Finally, we have been admonished by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit Himself to focus on raising our children to know the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 says it this way: “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he grows older he will not abandon it.”
These are the verses that I have based our community upon, and I am excited to see where God takes us as a group of women, mothers, and followers of Christ.
I pray that you find what you’re looking for on this site – whether that’s encouragement, advice, or a scripture to uplift your heart. I’d love to hear from you – you can find me on Facebook or Instagram, or send me an email (abbey@smalltownsoul.net).
Soli Deo Gloria!
